COVID-19 – Teaching Through a Pandemic

As schools are wrapping up the first month of the 2020-21 school year, teachers are attempting to erase the learning loss of the COVID slide while introducing new lessons in this difficult environment.   It doesn’t matter if you are fully in-person, fully remote or a blended version of both, this is not a typical start of the school year.

How teachers, administrators, and school support staff manage to keep a school running and teach in this environment will never be forgotten.  Tasks such as wearing masks, sanitizing classrooms, monitoring student movement while instructing students in the classroom is the new norm, at least for a little while. The addition of virtual teaching has proven, once again, how flexible educators can be.

Educators and support staff, alike, are doing tasks that were never part of their job description and are doing what needs to be done to keep students safe and educated.  What is being accomplished in our schools, while daunting, is exceptional!

In these challenging times, KEYTA truly recognizes and appreciates how our members continue to inspire students and make a difference in their long-term success.
