Representative Wheatley has introduced and recently held a press conference on his proposal, House Bill 1619, the “Teacher Tax Credit Act.” Under his legislation, a Pennsylvania certified teacher who incurs expenses and supplies in a taxable year may apply for a Pennsylvania teacher tax credit as provided in legislation. The amount of credit may not be more than $500.00 per applicant per tax year. Eligible classroom supplies include books, general supplies, computers and related equipment, including software and services. KEYTA understands the level of dedication Pennsylvania educators have for their students and the success of those they teach, and are aware of the vast expenses that teachers spend of their own finances to support this endeavor.
