Protection

Your vision of becoming a teacher probably didn’t include the need to protect yourself against legal action as a result of a complaint from a student, parent, colleague or school official.

Every eligible KEYTA member is automatically enrolled in KEYTA’s $2 million Professional Liability Insurance Program. KEYTA maintains a team of dedicated, licensed attorneys who assist members with employment concerns. Members who have a simple question or a complicated issue relevant to their job can simply call 717-763-1168. Our prompt and confidential services will give you peace of mind.

Professional Development

KEYTA works to offer its members professional development opportunities through summer conferences and seminars.

Communications

KEYTA publishes periodic newsletters and email updates so that members are kept abreast of association activities and current educational issues.

Affordable

Membership is only $39.60 per month for a full-time educator, and less for those working part-time, as a substitute, or school support staff.  KEYTA does not spend member dues on non-educational social agendas, or exorbitant board and staff salaries. Consequently, KEYTA is able to maintain reasonable dues.

Advocacy

KEYTA strives to promote and advocate membership interests on educational issues before the State Legislature and in Washington, D.C.

Discounted Insurance Benefits

The Keystone Teachers Association has partnered with Christian Baker Co. and Nationwide Insurance to provide our members with Long-Term Care and Life Insurance at special discounted rates.

Discounted Personal Legal Services

As a member of KEYTA, you have access to our Private Legal Services Program through our partner, Benn Law Firm.  Through this partnership, members receive special discounted rates for private legal matters such as wills, legal planning documents, discounted hourly rates, free consultations, and much more.

Leadership Opportunities

KEYTA encourages members to become active in KEYTA’s leadership and governance, as well as serving on regional and statewide committees.

Surveys

KEYTA members are regularly invited to participate in membership surveys. Member ideas, priorities, and perspectives are then supplied to educational policy makers and assist in guiding the KEYTA staff and board of directors in their governance, policies and programs. Through these surveys, we are able to speak for our members, rather than in place of them.
