Coronavirus Update & Standardized Tests

Dear KEYTA Member,

As we enter the second week of Governor Wolf’s school closure mandate, the number of Coronavirus cases spiked locally, nationally, and globally.  School districts are reporting that they are still unsure if classes will resume on March 30, 2020.  On Friday, March 20th, Erie School District’s Superintendent announced that he has indefinitely closed schools based on the current spread of the Coronavirus and Governor Wolf’s latest order closing all non-essential businesses.

Schools were not addressed under the business closure mandate, and except for continuing to provide meals for students where available, schools are not on the list of what is considered an essential business.  Superintendents are meeting with the Governor this week and clarification should soon be sent out regarding these confusing directives.

KEYTA is committed to continuing to provide you with the benefits and services on which you depend.  We have not closed, but we have instituted a work-from-home order for our staff which will also ensure the health and safety of our employees.

Any questions or inquiries can still be made through phoning our regular phone number at 717-763-1168 or through email at info@keyta.org.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to each and every one of you as we go through this unprecedented time.

2019-2020 Standardized Tests Canceled

The Pennsylvania Department of Education announced last week the cancellation of all PSSA testing and Keystone exams for the 2019-2020 school year as a result of COVID-19. This includes the Pennsylvania Alternate System of Assessment (PASA).

This past Friday, President Trump and the U.S. Department of Education also announced that they will not enforce standardized testing requirements for students in elementary through high school for this school year.
