Fair Share/Religious Objection Notice

Dear KEYTA Member:

You should have recently received PSEA’s notice alerting you that the clock is now ticking for you to get in your fair share/religious objection letters. You have 40 days from the date of your notice, which should be around January 20, 2018, to mail your objection.

Filing a “religious objection” allows you to have your entire union fee forwarded to a nonreligious charity.

For those who submitted a written religious objection during a prior school year, you do not have to resubmit this year. PSEA will consider your religious objection to be continuous in nature and unless you want to change your charity, you do not have to resubmit your objection this year.

Should you wish to locate this notice, it is usually hidden toward the back of your packet and is contained in two small paragraphs.

For union fee payers who have not previously submitted a religious objection, you can have your fee forwarded to a nonreligious charity if your religious or moral beliefs go against organizations that the PSEA or NEA support, your beliefs go against the beliefs of a political candidate that PSEA or NEA endorses, or your religion is opposed to labor unions in general.

I have attached a sample letter for your religious objection. You may use this letter exactly as it is written or make any changes that you choose.

Please feel free to contact KEyTA if you have any questions or request further clarification.
